  • Funkasaurus Rex Love the reverse of the situation... good idea! The action on the streets is very well filmed and reflected the energy of the music ... To end up by the sea ... is also really cool because it fits to the melody (Kind of western theme soundtrack...Freedom...) Keep on working , you´re on the good foot...Congratulations !

  • Genero Congrats on being chosen as the winner! Here is some feedback from Jim Moginie, guitarist from The Break, on why they chose this as the winning video:

"I didn't know what to expect here. Really, I was expecting more outer space surf stuff with a song like Winkipop, and this clip's beginning is almost static, like a Gary Numan robot video. And to be honest I've always seen the song as galloping along triumphantly. But expect the unexpected here. The acrobatics starting a minute into the song are such a surprise with a huge WOW factor. Its out of control. Even the squirrel works.

This clip fits the spirit of things brilliantly, such a simple idea, with that joy of suspense and release and finally resolution. And the two jailbirds looking out at the water at the end, at the future, is so right. Freedom from the mechanised, and the dullness of the digital age, where one's and zero's rule. I loved all the clips but this one, for me, fitted the spirit of the music so well."

    • robnan Congratulations! my comment is not for you guys, but I didn't like this video. The images doesn't fit with the song. The beginning is not good, it's so false. But who cares, finally it was the band video winner, hope people see it. Hope to see better winner videos

  • rinko hey, how about a moment of clarity here. how about you try to forget that you know the people involved in this. i can't believe that so many people were involved in this yet no-one tried to stop it from happening! obviously these kind of competitions are aimed at college 'film' students rather than professionals!

    • Risonhighmer I'm not sure of your intentions with that comment. This was created by college 'film' students. So if you are mad, be mad no more, this meets your criteria. If you are glad that this was made by college students, high five, homeslice!

    • mikee Rinko, not to be rude or anything, but how is your comment related to our video? As Risonhighmer states, I am confused as to your intentions - derisive or otherwise. And yes, we happen to be film students but we also have experience working on professional sets with professionals and I do believe that previous winners in the competition such as Kissy Sell Out's Apple Jelly was made by a professional filmmaker. Please elaborate? I do not understand. - Michelle

    • Crimsoneye I think Rinko is confusing team numbers with professional status... which also shouldn't be a criteria for entry. A pro film that wins, well you lose to one of the best. A 'student' film beating a pro film just makes it all the better. Wish ya luck michellegk, I tried to get people for a stylised western as part of my Art of Film course but with due dates and dates actors available I would have had to filmed and edited in 3 days! A bit intense.

    • rinko I did not mean to say that any student film is inferior to a professional one. Many examples exist to prove the contrary. It just happens that in this case, your film - even though it does have some good ideas- suffers from telltale signs of student work. If that's good enough for a professional level competiton, for a video that will be aired worldwide then well done. I apologize if my original comment sounded brash.

    • Relish I think what Rinko meant was that you can tell this is a student film, the storyline is obvious and something i would expect from a student 101 class. It is shot well, the 2 guys skills are impressive, but very much a student project.

    • Donnelly What I don’t get is why, of all things, you’re choosing to complain about this video in particular rather than the fact that none of the other videos are, really, any better. To be honest, the same “Oh, this feels like a half-baked student film” could be applied to any of the other finalists and, indeed, many professionally-released music videos.

And really, Rinko, you’re blowing this way out of proportion. “i can't believe that so many people were involved in this yet no-one tried to stop it from happening!”? Really? That’s a huge overreaction considering this video was merely selected as one of the six finalists. I’m personally impressed that a film made by young students has gotten this far, and I wish these people luck in their future endeavors. It’s just that you seem to be focused on tearing down rather than giving credit where credit is due, and I think that's misguided.

    • mungous if this were all about professionals it wouldn't differ from the industry practice already in place! I thought the idea was about connecting artists to fans, and giving people a fair chance...
