There is deep melancholy in the roots of this song to be sure. But so too, it seems, is there a peek at something bright between the petals above. Into the basement dwelling of emotional isolation comes a ray of light – and a recurrent gift – almost mythical in its beauty.

The last part of Goethe’s The Holy Longing brought it home…
"and finally, insane for the light,
 you are the butterfly and you are gone.

 And so long as you haven't experienced
 this: to die and so to grow,
 you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth."
