My interpretation on Eskimo Joe's song 'Echo', involving a cliché and seemingly vulnerable female who finds it difficult moving on from her ex with an echo, or ghost, of her past constantly following her around.
Upon following this ghosts footsteps into the ocean, it's irrelevant what happens to her - that's for viewers to decide. The important thing to note is that now with her having made her decision of not moving on, the other bloke's stuck with his own ghost of the girl, in much the same way the girl had one of her ex.
Everyone has their echoes, and everyone will deal with them differently.
Shot in the general Perth CBD; Mounts Bay Road/King's Park; The Old Fremantle Power Station; The beach near the Old Fremantle Power Station.
