sbs9Nikolaj, I too cannot believe your video did not win. So beautifully shot, great cast, amazing effects, I could go on. Yes, people have mentioned "The Russian Girls" and although they were not my favorite part of the video, I still think you should have won. The actor/bum switching places, the pig mask, and of course "It's time for your medicine, Mr. Le Bon" I was floored. Great job. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Bawbster1WTF?!? - I can't believe this video didn't win. This video was clearly the "cream of the crop". It was the best video submitted, not only in this contest, but the best video I've seen on Genero TV. This video is better than most "actual videos". Wasn't a fan of the ending, but that's just my personal taste. This video should've won. I only agreed with 2 of the winners, half agreed with one, and some winners (like the food fighting All You Need Is Now video) may cause me to NOT buy the DVD when it comes out because they were, for lack of a better word, bad. I just want to know one thing. What were Duran Duran smoking to make them not select this video and select that food fight one?!? Must've some pretty good drugs to make that food fight video look good. Is it just me or did those 2 food fight chicks look just a little too rough around the edges? - Holy Butch Batman!
sbs9Bawbster- I agree with you about the choice for All You Need Is Now. I am by no means an artist of any sort, let alone a film maker, so I don't know if it is appropriate for me to criticize anyone's hard work...but AYNIN was beyond bad. Disgusting. The octopus? I watched with caution...I thought it was going to be ripped in half. Whatever they were smoking I certainly do not want to smoke if it will make me think that was the best choice. Ick.

garibaldii like the mood of it all ! i hope you’ll win
jo_ecclesWOW this is amazingly good. Excellent direction and editing. What camera did you use if you don't mind me asking? It looks like a 5D mark II, but I've been wrong before!
MommaLuvincredible- captured as only a photographer could- full of color- surprises- surrealism- and lots of energy in this. thank goodness he had that nurse. BEst of LUck!
Kris KosterHeehee... I'd say Duran Duran got their $45,000 worth of promo with this effort alone. Stunning job Nikolai, you're obviously a huge fan. This will be tough to beat.
DiadexxusI absolutely LOVED this video except for ONE thing. The two girls at 2:37 just... felt a bit "out of place" with the "feel" of the rest of this video. If you edited those out, it would be PERFECT. I will watch this again!
Fred BowmanYes, certainly a good one... But are you sure that's the place for a clip produced as a major company production and the money who comes with it ???? while you are pro with 500 clips and many commercials in your asset? In that case, let’s call Michel Gondry or Spike Jonze the next time and it will be fast settled!. No offense Bro'.......
nikolaj13Hi Guys. I think I have something to tell you. What is the problem, that I as a DD Fan become a Film Pro ? What is the problem that I am Director. DOP an Postproducer I one person ?! What is wrong to use my best friends to help me realising the ideas we had ?!
What do you think the australien guy with his nice clip with the girl against mother nature is ?!
Is he a pro or is he an amateur ?! When starts Pro and when ends Amater status ?!
Not only money is important for a good product, creativity is much more important.
I think, that everybody of us is deep in the heart still a amateur and a kid...
regards nikolaj

Fred BowmanFor your answer, the problem is when a professional person who don’t need to be more known as you are is challenging against the others people… On this site, nobody has made 500 clips and has Virgin, Universal or Sony Bmg as clients…
And in the end, it will not be good for Genero because big majority of participant won’t participate anymore if it Would become a video clip confirmed Professional battle !
There is no chance to win for the others in front of the Industry's Professionals… And don’t forget, (you know that), that often, behind an artist there is a Major company who decides : The sames that you have as clients… You understand now the problem ?

fasteditCalm down everyone! 2011 NME Video Awards say Voyer clips & retro band footage cliche & done to death. NME say trick in tale & originality score. For that, see RiKyAN, raftyfrancisco, apacheplane, Extrovert, andyp89 & others!

robandrobI have to defend Nikolaj13 in this debate, I think the best thing about genero is the fact that ANYONE can enter a video, it actually makes me feel good knowing that i (someone with not so much experience) can compete with more experienced/established filmmakers. EVERYONE is given the same opportunity, why should Nikolai be penalised13 for using his available resources?

Kris KosterHeh, I just logged in to say almost the exact same thing as you but you beat me to it! Nikolaj has as much right to be here as anyone. We're all fans of DD, the big boys with their toys as much as the guy with just a 7D in his hand. This is an excellent piece of work and took a great deal of effort, no matter what level you're at. And it shows. I say well done and good luck to you.

Bawbster1Hey, If it were my music, I'd want the best possible videos made, as opposed to some of the crap that has been submitted (there are some very good ones too). That being said, perhaps some sort of live footage of the band performing these songs used as "stock footage" for the contestants to use in their videos could have been provided. This alone could have helped level the playing field a little. BTW - Great Vid. Hope it wins, because it deserves to.

Bawbster1nikolaj13 please make videos for the rest of the songs and rescue this competition. If that animated "blame the machines" video or any of the "sims" style of videos win, my god, that would make me sick to my stomach. Seriously, even if you did them "half-assed", I'm sure you'd win.

RFI like this video very much, it is the best and Nikolaj deserves to be winner... but... if Nikolaj makes videos for other songs, nobody else want to make videos too. This competition should be for find new talents, who haven´t professional background such as Nikolaj´s team. After all, what budget should this video? Certainly higher than prize for winner. And who make that videos? It will kill this competition.

Bawbster1I understand what you're saying. It's just that, well there's some good ones, and (to be polite) some that aren't very good at all. It would be a shame if DD had to put one of those "SIMS" style videos on the DVD. When I buy it, I sure hope its videos as good as this one.

Bawbster1...AND, what if it was your band. Wouldn't you want the best possible videos submitted?
RFOf course, if it is my band, then I will pay 45.000$ for making of video of my best song and I get professional video… But… if I provide my songs to this competition, probably I´m doing PR and advertising for my band. And I cannot wait superexcellent videos for prize 5.000$ per a song, because most videomakers cannot win….
But if somebody wants to making expensive work and subsidize his own money, it is not certainly against the rules.
So, if I buy DVD of DD and read on booklet, that videos are from this competition, I will not wait first-class quality - although it would be nice.
Finally I can say again: this video is perfect and my tip for winner.

Bawbster1There are some other good videos in here, without large budgets. It can be done, especially with the software available now. If I had known about this video competition, my decision not to go to Mexico in January would've been different (the expense of going to Mexico was as a trip and I could've killed two birds with one stone and made a video near the Aztec Pyramids and Mexico City as locations - that would've been awesome eh?). Also, My idea for "Leave A Light On" would've been shot here in my home town of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Basically, a woman used to leave her lantern on in her window for her boyfriend, a young sailor. She did this because her parents disapproved. One night the lantern tipped from the wind, burning the house down, with her perishing inside. Her ghost is apparently still seen wondering through the hallways of the Prince George Hotel looking for her lover. Her name was Lily Herchemer (i think). You can Google it, The story is online. I would have done it in the 20's "silent" movie style with the script on the screen cards. Except at the end, I would have had this sailor looking out at he ocean on a boat fading from the "brown" and white to in full colour. This can be done very cheaply, but it's too darn late. If anybody wants to do this video, go ahead, 11 days is a bit tight for me and my schedule. just give me credit somewhere eh? BTW - Check out my videos for Duran Duran's "Virus" and "Salt In The Rainbow" on my YT channel, under the same handle of Bawbster1. Does anyone know if these 2 songs were part of the Reportage line-up, I recently bought a Bootleg, called Reportage Mountbank, with these 2 songs on it. (already had them from Beautiful Colours).
Bawbster1This is a great video. Damn I wish I knew about this contest a little sooner. Not sure if it would've been this good though. I've only cast two votes so far, as I don't think a lot of the other videos posted are "official video quality".
DonDOriginal, great editing, storyline and good actor/actresses, flashbacks to the DD history...this must be a winner. No other vid so far can compete. Good luck, u deserve recognition
