MOBY - WAIT FOR ME

Comments
  • WaWe I like the mood and the visuality of this one, it takes me out of the western "have-to-make-sence" way of thinking, it just flows like the song. My vote is in! :)

  • Bang Get's my vote! As mysterious as the song itself, well done.

  • baudrillardo WellI don't get people bashing this video… because it is seriously beautiful. It captures the mood of the song.
I'm really liking it, it's an exploration of a mood or a state of mind, not a story, and that's precisely why I'm liking it!

I hope you like mine as well, it's the story of a little elephant searching for his missing chicken friend for months on the streets of Barcelona and Madrid: http://genero.tv/watch-video/6242/

    Good Luck Mariab!!

    PS:You got my vote!

  • kent fuselier I must have missed something somewhere on this one. I'm kind of confused why everyone is presuming this project requires telling a story with an ending and a plot and a point, anyway. I find the visual effort here a modest sidekick to the tune which manages to keep the tune the focus of the video - as opposed to sitting in the background simply scoring a scene to a movie. It seemed from the description that he was equally proud of both the home-grown efforts of himself, the crowd-sourcing of the vocal talent and finally the first video's flexibility of creative control. It seems as if too often an artist's or musician's or writer's creative output is judged by how well it accommodates the marketplace, and how much market share it commands and how much money it generates - das his words describing the spirit of the venture. Sometimes you just want to stretch out past your comfort zone and do something for a higher love of art than pacifying others. Increasing visual abstraction, IMHO allows the other indie blood to share the focus in the sync of the song while allowing the music itself equal say in the creation of the mood. Given his desire not to approach this from mass demographics of sales, I'm as curious as anyone to see how this turns out, given that everyone's 'votes' are simply defining the mass appeal he's trying to avoid by bringing this out here for new ideas. Best of luck to everyone!

I admire him greatly personally. Surely he knows what kind of bonds this participation brings to a handful of die-hard fans. For someone that doesn't need the cash or the fans, it speaks volumes for his character as - regardless of the outcome - there are quite a few people here that can now say they're officially 'working with him' on his next big thing... Good luck to everyone!

  • kent fuselier IMHO, Beyond talented - she's a genius combination of a quality, creativity, and content given a 'for fun' budget. I must have missed something somewhere on this one. I'm kind of confused why everyone is presuming this project requires telling a story with an ending and a plot and a point, anyway. You'll find videos running 24/7 on any of the dozen music channels on the TV if you want to create something as original as everyone else is already doing.

A general discourse through the flexibility of a combined and uncontrolled combination of creativity seemed like it was the point of the project from day one, not making sense to the average person expecting something back from it.

  • Rosemary Ok...so the people hoovering in the air in different positions, they are the ones who are detached and stuck? It means everybody else should wait for them? Or who? I would like it if it had more of a story to it, something that takes the film further on, something that happens or evolves. Now I only see your brilliant skill in effects editing, by the people floating around. But there's no turning point or anything that makes good storytelling. Sorry! :(
But I am truly impressed of the effort you must have put into this technique. You're talented!

  • alex whyte I like it! did you take a still photo of the 'suspended' people and then comp it in to the footage with a slight deformation and shadow to make it look like its moving?
    2 years ago - comment
    • mariab Thank you Alex, yes I took on location photographs of suspended people, then comped out everything that was suspending them, and cloned the BG, then used to the puppet tool to animate, and added shadows, time consuming work for me, but worth it in the end :)

  • evanoah i love how you've captured that sense of "suspended animation" we encounter in life. so often we're waiting for an invitation to something, anything. some spend lifetimes waiting to find their call. thank you for making this. many exquisite moments here and the seeming simplicity of it all is quite mesmerizing. =)
