  • thereareroses I feel for your situation, but there are an innumerable amount of flaws and errors with this piece. This looks like a video straight out of a family reunion, a small gathering of loved ones coming together to acknowledge a tragic loss. This should not be entered into a professional contest, soaking up recognition out of empathy, taking attention away from promising talent, filmakers who pay close attention to pacing, lighting, interpretation, editing, and visual consistency. Please everyone, don't vote solely on pity. Know that there are remarkable works of art on this site that with your help can be shared with the world.

  • baudrillardo Well I think you took a bold choice to tell such a tragic story. The end result plays well with the theme of the song.

I hope you like mine as well, it's the story of a little elephant searching for his missing chicken friend for months on the streets of Barcelona and Madrid: http://genero.tv/watch-video/6242/

    Good Luck Scotty991!!

    PS:You got my vote!

    • scotty991 It seems that all the critics have way too much time on their hands. It would seem easier to view a video and if you don't like it, just move on to the next one. unfortunately, the critics have to waste everyone's time and leave rude comments for everyone. My guess is they never got noticed growing up in their families and at school and now they have found a venue to attempt recognition...just a guess. "Mean spirits breed bad karma".

  • cjentertainment Seems to be very heartfelt so can't argue with that. Unfortunately, not good enough to be an official music video. The dissolve transitions are too long especially when cutting to visually boring still shots. Too overdramatic when paired with the melancholy feel of the song. I'm sorry if you lost a child. That's awful.

  • Zavafilms Scott,

A friendly greeting to my top competitor!

You have a fantastic video. Death is a topic in my fimmaking career has produced some interesting results, and your's definitely reflects all that gray emotion that comes with death. Especially of a child.

I would say that my only recommendation would be to have given a bit more of the child with parents, followed by the parents after the death, to connect those emotions of joy and loss, only further emphasizing your theme.

Great work, and I look forward to see how this thing turns out!

    Best of luck!

  • sunshine I think you did well in parts...liked the road but thought that visits to graveyards are personal...having suffered loss myself of a child..I 'd personally want to escape the image of death and live in the living images of memory and spirit...because...it's easier to cope...why paint the end in every picture...the 'wait for me'...surely refers to a journey and that the parent...loved one wants to follow in some way or will be following....one of my best memories captured on film was of my holding my 21 month toddler/baby in my arms and he had hold of my hair like two bits of rope....to steady himself...but I prefer the living moving memories...although I feel he wants to be seen not forgotton most of all...the film quality wasn't that bad...and it was atmospheric...but look a bit wider...I like sunsets and solitary walks along the sand...footprints..

    • scotty991 Dear Mystery Comment Maker, You certainly are welcome to your opinion and I can respect that. What I don't respect is your chicken-ass way of hiding your identity from all of us who you decided to leave your negative comments with. Why don't you man up a in the open instead of hiding in the shadows. If you are such a great video maker, so us your stuff. It would have been better for you to offer some advice in a constructive manner as opposed to the crap you said which is completely meaningless. Art is a form of expression which is different for everyone. If you don't like it, just move on to the next one.

  • prettyone I'm not so hot on this video and it's message. I think it plays on people's fears more than anything. What did you expect to achieve with discussing a topic such as this???
    2 years ago - comment
    • scotty991 Actually I was not trying to play on individual fears but simply trying to capture those feelings and put them into the video. I thought the video really complimented Moby's song and added a visual to the lyrics. I do appreciate and respect your opinion. It was hard on me too when I shot this last month. Thanks!

Description:

It's hard to imagine the loss of a child if you've never been a parent. It's even harder if you are. This video explores the dark side and emotional aspects of such a tragedy imagined or real. Following behind your child in death is a reality which is haunting in it's thought and gripping in it's pain.
.
This was an extremely hard subject to tackle for my first music video. Thanks to all of you for viewing my video.

Credits:

Thanks to my good friend Giovanni Pizzino for his help in filming the final scene. Thanks to Genero.tv and Moby for the opportunity. Most of all, thanks to Mayo for her support on this project. I know it was hard to watch. Filmed in Rockville, Maryland.
