  • indiereel Hey Kevin -- Looks like MLShetty70 is after both of your videos and most of us in the Top Votes. Too bad they aren't competing. Best of luck!

    • Zaf Well the final decision hasn't anything to do with votes... so there is a point at competing even if you don't want to count on votes... Just 2 out of 6 finalists are based on votes and then Moby does his final decision... so calm down on the importance of votes ;)

  • WaWe Great work!! Even if this won't win it is indeed an impressive project and deals with a very important topic! Don't get me wrong but it kind of deserves to be "more" than just Moby's music video, since it has totally it's own message and you have already made three high-quality works on the topic. So I'm wishing you luck on the competition, but also hoping you keep on working on your project in the future, and maybe find yet again a new channel to make it visible! :)

  • Rohan Brilliant! love all three of them and I'm glad you picked human trafficking. It's a horrible world we live and to think not too many people are aware of this crime. In fact I was speaking to someone about it the other day - kidnappings and forced beggary, most of the time mutilation of children in South Asia.

    Kudos!

  • baudrillardo And finally I can comment on the very first one of the series.
Amazing epic work in the whole series by Kevin and the Bayard Studios team. If you want go watch mine and tell me what you make of it. it's the story of a little elephant searching for his missing chicken friend for months on the streets of Barcelona and Madrid: http://genero.tv/watch-video/6242/

    Good Luck!!

    PS:You got my vote AGAIN!

  • sanjiv lush mirror effect dude, really like the feel it gives. here come the critism ;) felt it lacked perproduction, only bcause the mirror shots felt over used, the narrative was present in the mirror shots- you got the mood/atmosphere from it but i felt there was more the story of the woman could offer to highten the film. other wise waht can i say? excellently crisp shots, even the night time shots seem as smooth as a babys bottom, not much grainage or maybe its hidden in the black and white+ grain effect? (choosing to use black and white felt a bit cheese/ Cliche, 'oh how shall we make it look emotional? use black and white!' ) felt like it was a cop out. hope this didn't sound harsh. i do really like film + the cinematographers' work, awesome editing- suits the film. i think this should win the comp, the visuals are just too lush+ the message/something is actually something not just some bull s***, , an inspiring piece of visual hedioism. i voted! good luck holmes.

  • The Erie Wire Great work Kevin!

We love all your videos. And yes, we voted for each one individually since they proclaim equal messages through a different group of images.

Unfortunate some users couldn't recognize the quality of your work, and the profound impact it might have to raise awareness about such a deep problem in our culture.

  • diamond_doug We have watched your vote count jump in huge #'s today on all three of your videos, yet your view count stays pretty much the same. Nothing like trying to rig your votes mate.

    • Bayard Studios Hi Doug, thanks for your comment. I have a theory but little data to back it up. Your observation might stem from our process. We've asked our fans to vote when they receive a validation email from Genero. We enter their emails for them to make it easy for them, a two-click vote. I think its plausible that some vote without even coming to Genero to view. Just a theory though. I'd love to hear how you feel about the video though?

  • User_53138 A good effect in the begining and then so many borring shots. What has to do the trafficking part with the train move almost half of the video? Sorry, but instead of doing three pieces I think would have been better of doing one and good, so you could focus better on the shot and story.

    • Bayard Studios Hi - the sequence of images are open to interpretation and they spoke to me when I made them, I'm sorry they don't appeal to you but maybe one of the two other pieces I'm still working on will. Do stay tuned.

PS. are you a Genero administrator? You don't seem to have a profile.

  • ldmsouza Hi kevin, Nice effects again.
This video is really nice. But i think that would be bether if the imagens of the city were diferent, you know? its the same image on each cene, it would be more interesting with another buildings on the onother cene, because that the same all the time.
    What do you think?

  • SergioPantone Very very good video, I love it, editing is very good the timing with the words are perfect and the message in the ending is very strong. The acting is also made very good. Bravo, this is the best video so far in my opinion.

    • Bayard Studios Thank you very much for your encouragement, Sergio. I'm so glad you mentioned the acting because the cast is really talented and didn't hold back anything in their performances. I'm actually tossing and turning because some of the most compelling footage we have are very graphic re: violence and sexuality, what a dilemma.

    • Bayard Studios Thank you, Beaba! I was reviewing some new footage today and just doing some general research when I was taken by the fact that Moby drew his album cover with a sharpie on a piece of paper. That spontaneity and simplicity sparked an idea. So I started working on a line drawing version :-) It's rendering tonight so I hope it'll be good enough to submit tomorrow.

Artist: Moby
Song: Wait For Me

Description:

[MATURE CONTENT - IMPLIED VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL THEMES]

This song really got under my skin, particularly the line, "the life I have isn't what I'd seen". It brought back thoughts of a film I was developing last year that dealt with human trafficking. I felt unable to finish the script because I struggled to find original ways to deal with some well played out themes. And yet it was a story I sorely wanted to tell. In a way, embarking on this music video project is a second chance.

I've assembled a small but very gifted team and we've been planning and shooting since the start of Mar 2010. This is the first in a series of works I plan to submit. The base story is of a woman whose "days are gray and the nights are black", she's ventured overseas to support her child and ailing mother. She's making progress finding her way back but needs them to avert their eyes for awhile, "I'm gonna ask you to look away" but appeals for them to "wait for me".

This version tries to mimic the stealthiness of Moby's creation by marrying his pleasant melodies with some picturesque cityscapes but takes up the challenge when his lyrics turn a darker shade. There is some mature content and is labeled as such. A version I'm looking forward to completing involves a montage of some thousands of still photographs we're taking. And I'd like to make a softer desaturated colors version because we've shot some footage that would look so beautiful like that. And perhaps some others too, we'll see where inspiration taks us :-)

Please follow us as we continue our journey on this remarkable project. And I secretly hope this series moves some of you out there to act.

KEVIN
