  • biggerpicture Superb cinematography and screen direction. But where's the story?
    1 year ago - comment
    • Dylan Mc Breath "... a history of young electro-rock people who spend a typical day until nightfall.
They are the only ones going in the right direction, while everything else of the world around them is moving backwards.

Inexpressive, they remain until that magic moment when the music freezes into a symbiotic long-awaited evening. This is the place where young electro-rock people find their joy, emotions and feelings they have in common with music..." I think it's the story...

Ah, Mr Picton, I am going to have to side with Mr Apoplectricity (an apt name by the looks of it) on this one. As a lover of art, I hope I'm not being naive in assuming that the creators of this contest, and Booka Shade themselves, would prefer to see original, expressive and imaginative videos that may or may not end up mediocre, rather than recreations that reflect a piece of art I saw in a museum yesterday.

This being said, I am in no way wanting to begin a "pissing contest" or discourse between viewers that may end with the altered quote; "something is rotten in the state of....Belgium perhaps?".
But I will leave you with a more fitting and ironic line from the author of Moby Dick of all things

"It is better to fail in originality, than to succeed in imitation"

    Well done, either way.

    • homax This comp doesn't look as an imitation, or perhaps it's better made than the original one.
Bob Hund ? I guess nobody knows them... It's not really credible as reference.
I guess the reverse effect is used overall as well... or maybe it's ur favorite swedish band who has created this :)

"It is better to accept an imitation which ends to a good work, than to do nothing except criticize"

Well tried by the way :)

    • guapito Be honest with yourself. You didn't create the rude words you are using. Do you really think that you are original in your wickedness ?
    • Maestro There are plenty of examples of this technique being used - do you really think this video is so similar to the Bob Hund (who?!) video?? They don't even look the same!!
  • apoplectricity Was this your inspiration or exact mirror image?? hmmmmmmm??

    • Picton I think all the videos and films draw their inspiration from somewhere. Nobody in all these clips hasn't invented anything. the rewind effect was not invented by them, we are sure of that. They just developed a different point of view. Booka Shade will decide whether or not it corresponds to them. No more jealousy

  • seebastian mmmmm...not the most original concept in this comp. and isn't the shot at 1'36" lifted from 'berlin calling'? very similar!
    1 year ago - comment
    • Alex and Ol Yes it's a reference to berlin calling because we love Berlin and his artists. We wanted to refer to Paul Kalkbrenner who made this shot and electro music like Booka Shade.
    • BennyLohana I wonder how the artist who originally shot that feels about you using their shot.
    • Alex and Ol We totally assumed this. In all music video clips there are shots taken from long movies. We wanted to take one, from a movie and city we love, to show an other sundown in an other electro city (not Berlin but Brussels). It was a difficul plan to make, thanx to Nico, our steadicamer! :)

Artist: Booka Shade
Song: Teenage Spaceman ...
15 Jul 2010

Description:

"Afekt Production presents a history of young electro-rock people who spend a typical day until nightfall.
They are the only ones going in the right direction, while everything else of the world around them is moving backwards.

Inexpressive, they remain until that magic moment when the music freezes into a symbiotic long-awaited evening. This is the place where young electro-rock people find their joy, emotions and feelings they have in common with music.

Lost in space and on earth, anyone can become a teenage spaceman".

Please look at it many times to observe all the little details...

Hope you will enjoy this video as much as we had enjoy making it!

We will really like to thank all the amazing crew and actors for making this video possible.
