Mona winner and finalists

Mona have now chosen the winning video for the Lean Into The Fall competition as well as the finalists. It was another great example of your talents and the band and label were really impressed with the variety and quality of entries. Below is feedback on the winner and finalist selections...

We are thrilled to announce DIDISH.REC as the winner of the Lean Into the Fall video contest. It was great to see all of the interpretations submitted and we had a tough task choosing one winner, but we thought this one really captured the meaning of Lean into the fall which is just about letting go. Whatever the situation ...just let go and be ok....It's only rock and roll.

Visually stunning and another which could have easily won. Loved the rotating camera effect and the relationship with the song title. Very unique and loved the feel of it.

This was so entertaining and enjoyable to watch. The animation is fantastic and it's another great narrative that keeps you interested. Your Bio mentions you "like to make fun stuff" and this definitely fits the bill!

Beautiful cinematography and a video with feeling and soul. Leaves the narrative open to interpretation and it works really well with the song. Fantastic.

This felt like it could have been a short film. Great acting and loved the overall feel. A quality piece of filmmaking.

Another great video that leant more towards the visual than narrative, like kidding hsu's video. The images, train ride and overall feel of the film work really well with the song.

Ringo Starr Competition Launched

Ringo Starr is giving filmmakers the opportunity to make the official promo for Wings, the first single from his new album RINGO 2012.

This is an opportunity for filmmakers to make a music video for one of the world’s most influential artists, and get their work in front of Universal Music Enterprises, one of the industry's leading record labels. Ringo will personally choose the winner, which will be serviced to media as the official promo video for Wings. It's being left open for you to interpret so get creative!

The winner will receive $3,000. Entries close on March 7.

WooWoos Winner and Finalists

WooWoos have now chosen the winning entry, which will become the official music video for their debut single, Fizzy Lettuce. There was a really impressive range of great videos entered with some fantastic interpretations of the song, but unfortunately there can be only one winner! Loved AJ Rutters interpretation of Fizzy Lettuce. His video was a tragic and sad story that combined evil, innocence, misplaced trust and desperation. He really understood the feeling and emotion of the song, which is probably why his video stood out so much. Congratulations!

Canal+ L'Oeil de Links

If you're in France you might have seen a story L'Oeil de Links did on Genero that was screened on Canal+ during November. It features an interview with the two Genero founders, Mick Entwisle and Andrew Lane, two videos - Hugh Mitton's video for The Temper Trap and Arnold de Parscau's David Lynch video, and an interview with Arnold. The Genero story starts around the 16:30 minute mark, you can watch it below.

Mona competition launched

A new competition has been launched with Mercury Records to make a video for Mona's Lean Into The Fall. Finalists will be chosen by Mona, Mercury Records and Genero and the 2 videos with the most Facebook Likes by Jan 15 will also be finalists. The band will then choose the winner who will get $3,500.

SinCity Winners

The jury has deliberated and the people have voted. The winners for the SinCity competition have now been chosen!

The Overall Jury winner is CONTENTed (South Korea), a collaboration between Nils Clauss from CONTENTed and Stuart Howe from Studio163: http://genero.tv/watch-video/32414/. They win the €5,000 Jury prize. Congratulations on a fantastic, original film that was entertaining from start to finish. A very deserved winner.

The Overall Audience Award winner, who received the most Facebook Likes, is Silvia Bordin (Italy): http://genero.tv/watch-video/32419/. Another entertaining film with great humour that captured the SinCity theme perfectly. Silvia will also receive €5,000.

There were so many other great films as well, so much respect to all of the talented filmmakers who entered.

We were all overwhelmed at the talent, diversity and interpretations presented, and it was a very tough choice to make. So much so that the band went back and forth over a couple of the videos, before finally settling on a winner. Congratulations to the winner who is...

Wow, what a great clip. Andrew captures his subjects really well, and conveys true feeling and emotion without the camera getting in the way. Amazing colours, and the camera work is incredible. Dark twist at the end was unexpected, too. Love this one.

SinCity Finalists Announced

30 finalists have been selected for the SinCity Film Award. Congratulations to all of the entrants - there were so many fantastic films and it was really hard to narrow it down to even 30 finalists.

As the jury deliberates over the Jury Award, Best Cinematography award and their 4 runners-up, it's up to you to determine the Audience Award...and we've launched another competition to encourage you to vote! Start watching the finalists, vote for your favourites using the Facebook Like button, then simply tell us about your favourite video via the entry form on SCHMIDT's official site. One entrant will then win a trip to the International Berlin Film Festival in February!
