Hermitude started in the Blue Mountains in 2000 and released their first EP (300 Vinyl copies only) in 2002 (5 stars - 3D World, 2002). It quickly sold out and was never repressed.
They followed this up with their debut album - Alleys to Valleys (2003) – the esteemed radio figure Tim Ritchie called it “One of the best hip hop/breaks releases I’ve ever heard” and Urban Hits commented on its “world class hip hop production”.
After Touring for a year or two they decided to write our second Album - Tales of the Drift. The first single Fallen Giants took Australian radio station triple j by storm and sat on high rotation for months.
In 2006 they embarked on their first international tour taking on Malaysia, Japan, London, Norway and the West coast of USA (touring with Aceyalone and Abstract Rude).

Their car was broken into in France during that tour and their laptop and synth were stolen so they wrote new songs on the road for the half of our live show they had left. These songs became our 2nd EP and 4th release - Rare Sightings (2007).
After touring around Australia promoting Rare Sightings they decided to start their third album - Threads (2008). "Threads, is their finest effort to date. Forget the clichés, the music of Hermitude is just simply beautiful...although one could go through and find the highlights it is in letting the music play from start to end that the sheer pleasure of this album can be realised." Ozhiphop - Clayton Bennett
Hermitude toured Japan for the third time and China for the first in late 2008. In 2009 Hermitude collaborated with Urthboy and Countbounce for Urthboy's 3rd album due out towards the end of 2009.
